Fineliner · Specimen Nº 1
One pen, good paper and a quiet hand.
Fineliner is a shadcn/ui kit drawn the way a natural-wine label is: a single fine-liner with a slow wobble, no shading, and small pockets of solid ink where the eye should land.
Nº 01
Paper
Everything is drawn on paper. There are three stocks, and each turns over to a night card: a dark sheet drawn on with a light gel pen, not an inverted page.
Bond
Bright cotton paper; a black card at night.
Day #f4f0e6 · Night #1b1b1a
Recycled
Cream and unbleached, flecked; a navy card at night.
Day #ece2ca · Night #1c2131
Kraft
Brown wrapping paper; dark kraft at night.
Day #cdb48f · Night #2a2119
Nº 02
Pens
One pen inks the words, the lines and the rare solid fill, and choosing another re-inks the whole page. A red pen only corrects; a thinned wash fills art only.

The wash
The pen thinned with water: a pot, a picture, a highlight. Never words.
The correction pen
For errors and destructive actions only.
The shop is closed on Sundays.
Nº 03
The line
The pen draws one weight with a slow wobble, and its ends run a little past their corners. What you operate gets a calm hand; what you look at, a lively one.
A drawn frame
Four strokes whose ends cross or fall short.
A pocket of ink
The one place on a form the eye should land.
A sheet that floats
A frame and a second line: the shadow.
Marks
Put down by the pen for a choice, a state or a note, quick as a tick.

Nº 04
Voices
The same pen sets the words: a book serif to read, a typewriter for menus and prices, small caps for labels, and a hand for the odd aside.

the good chairs are by the window
Bring a record you love and one you have never played. We put them on in the order they arrive, with the lights low and the windows open, and nobody talks over the second side. A paragraph keeps to the measure, so the eye never loses its place on the way back.
Nº 05
Lettering
For covers and signs the pen letters its own words: one skeleton alphabet, stroked four ways, every letter leaning by its seed.
Liner
One monoline, a short serif across every free end.
Stilt
Liner drawn tall and narrow, for spines and signs.
Ribbon
Two outlines a stroke apart, filled with the wash.
Tramline
Three parallel lines and no serifs.
Nº 06
Drawings
And it draws things: objects, people and rooms, each from a seed, so the same seed draws the same picture everywhere. Point at one and its line boils.

In use
Put together, they run a record shop. These are the kit's own components as Listening Room uses them; open containers sit on the page, boxed ones get a frame.

Set in Newsreader and Courier Prime and drawn with one pen. Every line on this sheet comes from a seed, so it prints the same tomorrow.
